Finance & Admin Assistant – 1075877 Alberta Ltd.

Position Summary

 

The Finance & Admin Assistant is responsible for the daily financial operations of 1075877 Alberta Ltd., administratively and operationally to ensure all necessary processing is handled on a timely and accurate basis.

Reporting Structure

 

The Finance Assistant reports to the Property Manager and the Senior Management Team of Homeward Trust Edmonton.

Primary Objectives

 

  • Works in conjunction with the Property Manager, to ensure all documents, receipts, and cheque requisitions are processed and filed in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Organization.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation of all stages through processing financial information, entering information into the database, retrieving required data, and performing financial activities, as requested.

Essential Functions

 

§    Code, total, batch, enter, and verify transactions such as purchase orders, cheques, invoices, and cheque requisitions.

§    Process, record and reconcile all rent payments and prepare bank deposits.

§    Ensure the accuracy of financial transactions conducting necessary reconciliation's, including investigation and resolution of differences.

§    Perform related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.

§    Very good understanding of accounting principles and concepts.

§    Strong knowledge of accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger.

§     Operate a variety of common office equipment such as computers, adding machines and scanner, facsimile and photocopying machines.

§    From time to time, may be required to support other business services within the organization organization as needed.

 

Qualifications

Professional Requirements

 

  • Graduate of a recognized post-secondary institution with a focus on Finance, Accounting, or related specialty.
  • Experience in:  accounting or finance, to include handling accounts payable/receivable, and other data entry and processing.

OR

  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with all functionality of Quickbooks accounting software.
  • Experience in working efficiently with MS Word, Excel, Project, Access and Outlook.
  • Proven analytical and organizing skills.

Finance Assistant

Position Summary

The Finance Assistant will support the daily financial operations of Homeward Trust administratively and operationally to ensure any necessary processing is handled on a timely basis.

Reporting Structure

The Finance Assistant reports to the Manager of Finance or other related positions as may be determined by the Executive Director. 

Primary Objectives

  • Works in conjunction with the Manager, Finance, Funding Facilitators and to ensure all documents, claims, and cheque requisitions are processed and filed in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Organization.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation of all stages through processing financial information, entering information into the database, retrieving required data, and performing financial activities, as requested.

Essential Functions

§    Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to projects and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems.

§    Assembly of claims. Ensures all supporting documentation is attached as necessary.

§    Code, total, batch, enter, and verify transactions such as purchase orders, cheques, invoices, and cheque requisitions.

§    Calculate costs of materials, overhead and other expenses based on estimates, quotations, and price lists.

§    Ensures the accuracy of financial transactions conducting necessary reconciliation's, including investigation and resolution of differences.

§    Perform related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.

§    Good understanding of accounting principles and concepts.

§    Knowledge of accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger.

§     Operates a variety of common office equipment such as computers, adding machines and scanner, facsimile and photocopying machines.

§    From time to time, may be required to support other business services within the organization which include processing claims from other contracts and agreements that have not otherwise been assigned to Funding Facilitators. 

Qualifications

OR

  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
