Larry Shaben Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Housing Sector

Recognizes those individuals who are highly committed to working in the housing sector, who promote or develop housing or related services and who are passionate about what they do.

This award is named in memory of the late Larry Shaben. A long-time housing advocate and respected former Cabinet Minister, Shaben provided critical leadership in addressing housing issues across Alberta. One of his most outstanding contributions was in the area of safe, secure and affordable housing.

In addition to his provincial work, Larry was also a trustee of Homeward Trust Edmonton, and was instrumental in implementing the ROOPH Awards. He strongly believed in an annual award program that would recognize individuals, organizations and businesses that work to address affordable housing and homelessness prevention initiatives in Edmonton, whether in a paid or volunteer role.
